This is a special meeting Group for people in charge of IT in firms, including of Partners, IT Professionals and Practice Managers (if they have responsibility for IT).  Some external IT consultants also attend.  Membership covers 18 firms from all around NSW and one firm from Victoria.

We meet twice a year to discuss IT issues arising in firms.  There is a structured Agenda and meetings are held in the Sydney CBD.

Between meetings, members share questions, answers and ideas via their own Google Group.

Member firms benefit in many ways

• Professional development – exposure to a range of highly-powered presenters, who are regularly featured at meetings. The hours constitute applicable CPD hours.

• Focus on IT Management within firms – often other training meetings focus on high level IT technical matters, this Group provides discussions on the day to day operations of IT within a firm.
• This is one of the cheapest and most effective forms of IT practice management.

Thea Foster acts as facilitator of the Group, she prepares the Agendas, collates firm meeting documents, arranges special guest speakers, Chairs the meetings and ensures follow up on Taking Action items from the meeting discussions.  Plus co-ordinates the Google Group.

Like most practice consultants, Thea is also a chartered accountant.  She first worked in large firms, then left and set up her own small firm.

The most famous comment after a TAP IT Group meeting came from a long term IT partner who said “I have been to many CPE activities in my time and this has been the most useful and fun”.

Given she grew up on the land, Thea has a particular interest in supporting regional based firms.
